Fluid tasked to woo market to Victorian Spa

Design and marketing agency Fluid has won the business to develop a website for Hong Kong Disneyland-based Victorian Spa, following a three-way pitch.

According to Fluid marketing director Simon Squibb, the company was awarded the brief following a three-month pitch process. The website, scheduled to launch in March, aims to attract Hong Kong residents to the Disney-based spa, which features an indoor swimming pool, beauty salon, sauna and steam room in addition to treatments. It is owned by Elemis Spa. "The new website will promote the key features of the spa set-up. The website is the way to bring in new business for the spa, which opened in September 2005 with Disneyland. The problem is that most people don't really know that there's a spa there and tend to visit spas closer to them in Hong Kong," said Squibb. The spa will be given its own identity in a bid to attract consumers directly, in addition to visitors to the theme park. "It's a self-contained business and we want people to go just to the spa. Disney (visitors) have been using it already," added Squibb. He noted that the website would be designed with a lifestyle feel based largely on visuals, to give consumers a feel of the spa's ambience and its services, with a "slight touch of Disney". "The spa (concept's) not really compatible with Mickey Mouse," explained Squibb. The site will feature an online booking service and newsletter. Fluid, which will continue to manage the site's design and editorial post launch, is also seeking to generate a database to offer consumers promotions and discounts on services. The design company is also working on a print campaign to promote the spa.
