Fleishman Hillard to address Korean birthrate in new campaign phase

SEOUL - The Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare has appointed Fleishman Hillard to handle the second phase of its push to address the country's low birthrate problem, worth an estimated US$500,000.

Having worked on the campaign’s initial phase last year, Fleishman Hillard was invited to pitch against four other agencies for the next stage earlier this month.

The focus of the new drive will be to promote awareness of childcare and child-rearing facilities. Last year’s segment was designed to encourage a more ‘parent friendly’ society and to educate families on the pre- and post-natal care options available to them.

Korea has one of the lowest birthrates in the world, along with Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong. The campaign is expected to run until 2012, by which time the government hopes to have raised the birthrate to 2.1.
