Five gold Spikes at first Bali outing

<P>BALI: Five gold Spikes, the same tally as last year, were handed out at this year's Asian Advertising Awards following three days of on-site judging of more than 3,200 entries in Bali.</P> <P><BR>Headed by JWT's global creative chief Craig Davis, the 14-person jury comprising regional and international creative talent also awarded 29 silver Spikes and 53 bronze Spikes. Introduced for the first time this year, the bronze prize was one of several innovations unveiled for the event's 20th year, which included on-site judging, the display of finalists' work and an accompanying creative conference, Create '06, all taking place over a week in Bali.</P> <P><BR>As in the last three years, Thailand was in top form, winning the best of show prize as well as two golds. The best of best prize presented at an intimate dinner gathering went to Thai creative star Jureeporn Thaidamrong, founder and ECD of start-up JEH United Bangkok, for a four-spot campaign created for skincare brand Smooth E. <BR>Creative Juice took home Thailand's other gold for its work on Bangkok Insurance.</P> <P><BR>China reeled in its first gold Spike with JWT Shanghai's 'Run Free' poster campaign for Nike Hong Kong, Lowe Malaysia for a print ad for Land Rover Owners Club and Dentsu for its 'Answer it! goo' out-of-home campaign for client NTT Resonant.<BR>Full report p24-25</P>
