The court called the appeal letter a "useless piece of paper".
The appeal was lodged in early 2006 following a complaint by the Cable & Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia (CASBAA) on behalf of media owners against Maguindanao Skycable for illegally broadcasting copyrighted programs of major cable and satellite programme providers.
The case follows a landmark ruling in June where another pirate cable operator, Turtle Cable, was slapped with a restraining order for copyright infringement.
Simon Twiston Davies, CEO of CASBAA, noted then that cable piracy had cost the Filipino broadcast industry US$85 million dollars in annual revenue in 2007 and would also deprive authorities of US$38 million in tax payments that could be used for development programmes.
