FedEx Taiwan manager climbs to regional post

SINGAPORE: FedEx Express has promoted Catherine Lu to director of marketing - South Pacific region after transferring Michael Heldebrandt to Tokyo in a similar role for North Pacific.

Lu, who joined the courier company in 1999 as marketing manager in Taiwan, will move to Singapore, where she will be responsible for developing and executing the corporate marketing strategies, advertising and promotions for 20 countries in the region.

Lu will continue building on the multimedia FedEx 'We live to deliver' campaign and the customer loyalty plan 'Business Bonus Programme'.

"FedEx believes that express delivery is not only about getting a package from point A to point B but also about building a relationship of trust with our customers. It is a brand synonymous with speed and reliability.

My primary role, and immediate goal, is to further enhance customer awareness of the Fed-Ex brand, said Lu, who has more than 20 years of marketing experience.

In her Taiwan stint, she oversaw initiatives such as telesales and expansion of the FedEx retail network to help grow the company's customer base.

Prior to FedEx, Lu was marketing manager for American Express (Card) Taiwan, and also worked at Lintas Advertising on the MasterCard and Unilever accounts.
