BEIJING - FD, the strategic communications business of FTI Consulting, is to launch a public affairs practice in China and has enlisted Manning Selvage & Lee's Jack Zhang (pictured) to head up the unit.

Zhang is to assume the role of vice-president of FD’s Beijing office and will be responsible for providing strategic insights into Government relations in China for the agency’s clients.

A specialist in governmental public relations, Zhang joins from MS&L, where he worked with international clients on China public affairs and media relations.

Prior to his time at MS&L, Zhang worked at CCTV for 10 years and was a member of the CCTV-9 flagship business programme BizChina.

"The China practice joins FD’s well established public affairs platform in Europe and Washington. In the four years since inception we have grown our regional presence to over 100 people, and Asia-Pacific is a critical part of our global growth strategy," said FD's global CEO Charles Watson.

In the practice, Zhang will work with FD’s global offices, which include regional bureaus in Hong Kong, Melbourne, Perth, Shanghai, Singapore and Sydney.
