Ex-Grey chieftain back with global comms ambition

Viveca Chan is backing the establishment of a global Chinese communications brand after entering into two key ventures a month after ending her 23-year stint at Grey Global Group.

The former Grey China head has forged a partnership with Worldwide Partners, which claims to be the world's largest independent marketing communications partnership. Through the new WE entity, Chan will bring 10 local shops, including Meikou, Ping Chen and Chengdu-based Apex, to the WE Worldwide Partners network. Said Chan: "I want to help Chinese independent agencies go global. My mission is to build Chinese global brands including the first global Chinese communications brand." China's newly-rebranded DHA outdoor media group has also tapped Chan as a consultant along with Bernd Michael, the former Grey Europe chairman. Several newly-resigned Grey senior executives such as Josh Li, Sam Chung and Iris Chan will also run three newly-opened WE Marketing Group offices in a JV with DHA.
