Euro RSCG has hired John Gregg, formerly planning director with McCann Erickson, as regional planner on its Volvo account in a newly-created role.
Before the appointment, Volvo had conducted regional planning for Asia in-house.
Based in Shanghai, Gregg joins a team of other Euro placements across Asia-Pacific to work on driving a consistent brand identity and differentiating presence for the auto brand. Although one of his main priorities will be to capitalise on China's fast-growing car market, he will also help develop insights that can be applied to Volvo communications regionwide.
He will report to Richard Tan, CEO Euro RSCG Greater China. Before moving to China to work for McCann, Gregg had worked in Thailand for JWT and Dentsu.
Speaking on Gregg's appointment, George Gallate, CEO of Asia-Pacific and India, commented that the move was part of the agency's continued drive toward providing "a better level of resources to (regional) clients which are not determined by geography".
