ESS secures Champions League rights for China

SINGAPORE - ESPN Star Sports has renewed a multi-year agreement with UEFA to broadcast the Champions' League in Malaysia and Brunei as well as securing rights to the Champions League and UEFA Europa League in China for the 2009-2012 seasons.

In Malaysia and Brunei, the broadcaster will maintain exclusive pay TV, broadband and mobile broadcast rights for a total of 146 games. In China, ESPN has secured a landmark deal for the exclusive English-language pay TV rights for the Champions League and for the first time, the UEFA Europa League to broadcast over 350 games in China for these two leagues.

In Singapore, SingTel’s mio TV has bagged the Champions League rights from ESPN for the next 3 years.
