Edge plans China roll-out for weekly

HONG KONG - Having identified a gap in the Chinese market, The Edge Media Group is set to launch a new English-language weekly covering Greater China, including Hong Kong, Macau, mainland China, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese business.

Tan Boon Kean, regional managing director and editor of The Edge Singapore, noted: “There is presently no English-language weekly in or on China, for general or business news. There are Chinese versions of BusinessWeek, Fortune, Forbes, and Newsweek, but these are not China titles as they are almost entirely translations of US and foreign content.”

Tan added that the new venture would not be “another Asia regional publication”, but one focusing on “opportunities and challenges coming from the growth of China”.

The new publication’s HQ will be in Hong Kong.
