Edelman sets up Japan office with Pickard as head

Edelman has formally entered Japan, launching the five-person operation Edelman Japan KK.

The agency is headed by Edelman North Asia president Bob Pickard, who relocates after previously being based in Seoul, while Keizo Kumazawa has been appointed deputy MD.

The office counts Microsoft Xbox and Tyco Electronics as retainer clients, along with project clients such as Johnson & Johnson, Tundra Semiconductor and Visteon. The launch comes eight months after Edelman launched in India and, according to Edelman global president/CEO Richard Edelman, is a reflection of the increasing trust placed in earned media in Japan. "Japan is home to approximately 30 per cent of the world's top 1,000 companies and therefore fundamental to our long-term global strategy," said Edelman.
