EDB tipped to appoint JWT and MEC

SINGAPORE - The Economic Development Board (EDB) is poised to appoint JWT and MEC for its integrated marketing campaign to position Singapore as a premier business hub.

Sources suggest that even though EDB had shortlisted three agency pairings - JWT/Mindshare, Ogilvy/MEC and Publicis/Zenith - the government body has decided break the pairings in its final decision. Both JWT and MEC were unable to confirm the news. The two agencies are believed to be in discussions over contracts ahead of an official announcement.

The appointment is for two years with an option to extend for another year, and the winning agencies will work on an integrated marketing campaign to communicate the city-state’s strengths as a business location to overseas markets including the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan, China and India.

The Government board had called the tender in March and up to 11 agency pairs attended the initial briefing.
