E-auction to decide TAT creative review

BANGKOK - The race for the advertising accounts of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has narrowed to four agencies, which will compete in a final round via an online auction, with the winner to be decided on fees.

The 300 million baht (US$96 million) international business will be contested by McCann Erickson and Leo Burnett. Lowe withdrew, as the client would not allow more than one agency from the same holding company (IPG) to compete.

However, Leo Burnett is also lining up for the 30 million baht domestic account with Publicis Groupe sibling Saatchi & Saatchi.

Fareast DDB is also in the running.

The review has been “nightmarish”, according to one competing agency source.
