However, it was among a number that experienced a steep slide in income last year because of the economic down-turn.
DY&R/Wunderman's gross income for 2001 totalled S$29.89 million (US$16.6 million), down 17 per cent from the year before, according to a survey conducted by the Singapore 4As.
Other agencies, which reported a downturn in income included Batey Ads, Euro RSCG and Lowe.
The big gainers were Ogilvy & Mather, TBWA, McCannErickson, M&C Saatchi and BBDO, all of whom helped to ensure that the gross income for the 4As' top 20 agencies increased overall by 7.6 per cent to S$253.4 million (US$142 million).
O&M jumped from fourth to second in the ranking after winning a number of new accounts, including the regional assignments of Silk Air and Nike.
DBS consolidating its regional brief with TBWA and more work for Pernod Ricard, formerly Seagram Asia-Pacific, helped TBWA to higher ground. Another gainer was Saatchi & Saatchi. CEO, Simone Bartley, attributed the result to new business wins such as the global account for Korean tyre brand, Hankook.
On the downside, Batey tumbled almost 11 per cent after it resigned 10 small accounts, including Singapore Zoo and Raffles Hotel, in order to focus on larger accounts.
It was also adversely affected by the poor economy and the fact that its largest client, Singapore Airlines, cut its adspend late last year in the wake of September 11.
Lowe dropped more than 40 per cent and CEO Addison James blamed the sharp reduction fallout on the merger with Ammirati Puris Lintas, which resulted in the loss of conflicting accounts, such as its share of SingTel.
