Dubai centre to open in March

GENEVA The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has confirmed its new purpose-built convention centre will be ready for business in March next year. Unveiling a scaled down model of the Dubai International Convention Centre (DICC) on the Dubai stand at EIBTM, DTCM director operations and marketing Mr Mohammed Khamis bin Hareb said: "The opening of the DICC will boost Dubai's status as a (meeting, conference and incentive) location. "The new facility will be big enough to accommodate events with up to 11,000 delegates and its main multi-purpose hall will have the capacity to hold up to 6,000 people when set up as an (plenary) auditorium." The centre will feature a 6,860sqm multipurpose hall and 44 breakout rooms that can hold from 60-600 delegates. The new facility will also be complemented by more than 1000 on-site accommodation options, including a 412-room Novotel Hotel, a 210-room Ibis business Hotel and the 492-room Dubai International Hotel and Apartments.
