Rao, who has been based in the Singapore office for almost 20 years, said his new priority is to strengthen through-the-line capabilities in the Indonesia office. He will also spend more time in DraftFCB's Malaysia office.
Meanwhile, long-time general manager Caroline Lim will lead the Singapore office, which has shrunk to 10 full-time employees following the loss of Motorola in March, according to sources. It continues to service recent wins such as Royal Caribbean International cruises and Dockers.
"DraftFCB will concentrate on big population markets where business is good, like India, China, Indonesia, Malaysia," said Rao.
The Indonesian office recently picked up the lucrative Sinar Mas telco account, although Rao declined to comment on the win.
