Dobson urges industry to combine measurement platforms

HONG KONG - Discovery Communications' senior VP of the strategic research group Anthony Dobson has called on the industry to develop an inclusive measurement system in a bid to improve advertisers' ROI.

Dobson noted that currently ratings systems for various media platforms work in isolation, although he indicated that the situation is improving. “We need to find the measurement tool to give us a whole picture, and the main challenge is to change the measurement method.”

Dobson also revealed Discovery is planning is planning to launch a Global Emerging Markets Study (GEMS), which will explore the connection brands have with consumers across multiple media platforms.
