Direct Vision to refund fees to pre-paid customers

JAKARTA - A day after Astro pulled the plug on Direct Vision (PTDV), the Indonesian pay-TV operator has promised to refund the subscription fees to all its prepaid subscribers.

In a statement put up on its website and taken out in the national newspapers, PTDV has apologised to families in Indonesia and vowed to refund their fees. Astro Nusantara, as the pay-TV operator was called, had 100,000 subscribers, who have been left in the lurch following the termination of its service.

The customers on monthly payment will not be reimbursed since they were only billed by the end of the month. Meanwhile there are reports that competing pay-TV operators such as IndoVision, Telkom Vision, Top TV and newly launched Aora have been inundated by customers seeking an alternative pay-TV connection.

According to reports, Lippo Group’s First Media, which owns PTDV, has also been approached by Indonesia’s stock exchange for clarification on why it has discontinued its service in Indonesia. First Media is listed on the Indonesian stock exchange.
