Digital moves this week from Twitter, Linked In, PayPal and more

A roundup of the latest digital people moves, account wins, pitches and developments across the Asia-Pacific region.

Twitter rolled out a new version of Twitter search wherein related photos and videos will appear when a user searches or clicks on a trending topic along with the relevant tweets.

Linked In will be launching a new button that enables job seekers to apply for jobs straight from their Linked In profiles. According to sources, the button will appear next to a job description on an employer's page and the applicant will be able to tweak their profiles before sending it.

Grey Group digital agency Yolk signed a partnership deal with Socialbakers, a Facebook statistics portal. The partnership will see Yolk assist Singapore businesses build a deeper understanding of the local market, and help Socialbakers update local brands and media charts, in addition to offering the company's analytics monitoring technologies in the local market.

Malaysian social activist Fahmi Fadzil was given a sentence of posting 100 apologetic tweets as an out-of-court settlement to a defamation suit. The defamation proceedings were brought about when Fahmi tweeted that his pregnant friend was poorly treated by her employers at a magazine run by Blu Inc Media.

Dentsu acquired digital agency Steak as part of its efforts to boost its interactive credentials across Europe and Asia. Steak will now operate under the supervision of Dentsu Network West, reporting to Jim Kelly, chief executive of Dentsu Europe.

Fluid Publishing's Foodie magazine announced an upcoming makeover for its website ahead of its plans to expand in London and Singapore. It is the only free food-focused magazine in Hong Kong and available at over 350 restaurants in the city.

Komli Media acquired digital media company Aktiv Digital. The acquisition paves the way for Komli Media, a digital network platform, to gain access to the leading advertisers and publishers in Asia-Pacific.

Linked In opened the doors to its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore to be headed by managing director and vice-president for Asia Pacific Arvind Rajan. He will be in charge of driving the company’s three-pronged business model comprised of hiring solutions, marketing solutions and member subscriptions.

Tencent launched its video portal that places the online company on par with established video players Youku and Tudou. It plans to integrate the new video platform into its existing media platforms including the QQ instant messaging service and the Tencent Weibo microblog 

Wwwins Isobar was appointed the digital agency-of-record for Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Xian Janssen Pharmaceutical after a three-way pitch. It will be responsible for handling the digital activities of all the pharmaceutical firm's over-the-counter products, including strategy and planning, creative, media planning and buying.

Amobee, a mobile advertising solutions company, appointed Grant Watts to managing director for Asia-Pacific. He will be responsible for spearheading the continued growth and development of Amobee’s global business and operations throughout the region.

Puma has appointed Proximity China as its digital creative agency-of-record after a competitive pitch in April. The agency will assume duties as digital AOR locally, including development of global initiatives from within China.

Paypal filed a lawsuit against Google on its new mobile payments service Wallet, alleging the theft of its trade secrets. Central to the allegation is that key mobile executive Osama Bedier took trade secrets to Google on the same day that Bedier rolled out its new Wallet service to the media. 

ZenithOptimedia bagged the digital and media accounts of Carlsberg in China following a three-way pitch against incumbent Carat and OMD.
