If there's one thing Diary has learnt about ad agency folks it's
that they do rise to the challenge - even if the task at hand will keep
them up till the early hours of the morning for the next 20 years.
Ad agencies are staging a strong comeback in the fight to prove they're
far more productive than their below-the-line siblings.
And it's just two shops - M&C Saatchi Hong Kong and Euro RSCG - that are
attempting to restore the virile reputation of their fellow
agencies.
M&C CEO Ian Thubron and wife Keir had daughter Sadie, weighing in at a
whopping 4.2kg, a few weeks back, and media director Tania Gutteridge
gave birth to a 3.5kg son Thomas, while account director Rebecca MacLeod
is due on December 13. Looks like MacLeod won't be attending media's
Agency of the Year bash, which falls that day.
Barely able to conceal his glee over M&C's jacked-up production rate,
Thubron chuckles: "I only have to look at my wife and she becomes
pregnant. As for the others, I believe the fung shui man was correct
when he predicted that the new office would be a productive place."
Over at Euro, Hong Kong managing director David Morgan has been
complaining about gaining weight. The reason - he's been eating along
with the missus and she's expecting twins in February.
