Well, we promised it to you, and here it is: celebrated creative
David Droga making a total fool of himself.
For those of you who haven't already had it land in your email inbox,
this is one of the ads for the YoungGuns creative awards that we
mentioned a few weeks ago.
It features Droga, executive creative director of Saatchi & Saatchi
London, and formerly the agency's regional ECD for Asia, attacking his
own birthday cake in fury, because it reminds him that he's too old to
enter the awards, which are reserved for creatives under the age of 30.
Personally we'd prefer that he attack the winners, who are bound to be
sickeningly talented and horribly wealthy at a frighteningly young age,
in a way which makes us here at Diary very, very angry indeed.
Droga, himself a winner of the YoungGuns in the past, has been confirmed
as chairman of the judges for the Australia-based awards. That means
that the poor love will have to be flown from cold, smelly London to
glorious Sydney for the judging, which rather makes Diary question why
he's so angry.
Other ads to promote the awards, also distributed by email, feature
fellow famous creatives Steve Henry, John Hegarty and Warren Brown, also
bemoaning their age by engaging in similarly inappropriate acts. You can
see them on the internet at
