ATV Home, the Chinese channel, showed planes slamming into the World Trade Centre towers. These were scenes that were difficult to watch.
However, even more difficult to take was the decision by the station's producers to dub the video footage into Cantonese, screams and all.
Why would anyone want to do this? This is news, after all. Not a movie or a cartoon. Try using subtitles!
Not to be outdone, its English counterpart, ATV World, also aired images of that tragic day in New York a year ago.
There was even a pretty interesting chat show, discussing the implications of the attacks on the global political and economic structure as well as the US' continuing war on terrorism.
Then came the mother of allstunners. In one of the advertising breaks, the first commercial that came on air was to promote a sauna.
It was yet another jarring moment for television audiences in Hong Kong for in the midst of a programme discussing one of the biggest tragedies in modern history, there was this TVC highlighting the features and benefits of a sauna.
Hong Kong's media never ceases to amaze me.
