DIARY: Pappas' first-born in star appearance after 60-hour hide'n'seek

Pushing hard may not exactly seem like an anathema to your average media sales person; so, for Time's international marketing director, Anne Pappas, hell - it's a breeze. Well, professionally at least ... as despite the expert pre-planning and extensively-mined research, nothing could have prepared her for her most challenging project yet: giving birth.

Super-trouper Pappas (now based in London) had it all planned, from the natural water birth at a 'birth centre', laughing in the face of anticipated pain with a 'no drugs' edict - just positive thinking, pre-birth yoga and breathing control to rival free-diving legend Jacques Mayol (a la The Big Blue).

As anyone who knows anyone who has ever given birth knows, things never quite turn out as planned ... And despite a 'business-as-usual' approach - Pappas left the office on July 18 with the little 'un due on July 30, worked through the weekend and, by Tuesday July 22, was welcomed to the magic of contractions.

After 60 - yes, 60 - exhausting hours, new-age plans were jettisoned in favour of the hard stuff: an epidural at the hospital for the sake of some precious sleep and a bit of energy to get up and go, baby, go!

Well, Pappas' elusive little one had other ideas, and still refused to make an appearance until a caesearian section introduced him to the world at 1.45 pm on July 24.

"Ladies and gentleman, we bring you Dylan Loek van Peski ..."

Along with partner Berend van Peski (who provided the humour, bananas, Miles Davis tunes and knew when to get out of the way when the 'breathing' wasn't working), both parents were ready to give little Dylan his ultimate fanfare. That's not to say anyone prepared them for the rigours of nappy-changing. But, being a superwoman, Pappas already has that down to one minute, 32 seconds (including applying calendula cream to Dylan's little botty).
