DIARY: On the spot - Guy Venables executive producer, Great Ocean Picture Production

What's the best part of your job?

Experiencing new things all the time. Different productions bring together different challenges, experiences, locations, people, scenarios. The travel can be fun, it's the people aspect of the job that I love.

And the worst?

As a producer, bad weather in the middle of a major location shoot where you have to rearrange a shoot schedule a dozen times. As an MD, one has to be expert in all aspects of running companies - personnel, accounts, marketing, financial control, strategy. This can be challenging, yet boring.

Your all-time favourite film and why?

Blade Runner - explores our mortality as humans, and the value of life. It's told in pictures, ambience. Shot well.

Favourite book or CD?

Book: The Prophet - Kahlil Gibran

CD: Torch Song Trilogy - Into the Wilderness. William Orbit produced it.

Favourite restaurant and dish?

Cafe e Cucina in Melbourne, Australia - the Calamare san Andrea is to die for.

Do you have a favourite gadget?

If laptops count, then yes. My Ipod is also the latest gizmo.

Favourite fashion designer?

Gwendolynn makes women look good. Moschino for men.

What are your hobbies?

Work. Plus, playing the guitar.

Where did you go on your holiday?

Queenstown, New Zealand.

Who would you want to play you in a movie?

Robert De Niro

How would you title your movie?

Run Guy Run or 69 Lessons in Fun

Please finish this line, I wish I could ... lick my elbow. Just lost a bet on this.
