Jetting around the world and visiting leading creative directors - many have been friends since my days as editorial director of Adweek in the 90s.
And the worst?
Having to field calls after Clio from ECDs asking me why their work wasn't awarded. They want me to say that the judges were deranged idiots, high on pot through the judging, incapable of distinguishing a good idea from a scam. But instead I have to try to explain that competition is tough and all we can do is hope that a new judges will be more charitable next year.
Your all-time favourite film and why?
Godfather films about family, respect, building a business - not that different from advertising in New York.
Favourite book or CD?
John Le Carre's The Spy Who Came in from the Cold. I worked in a politicised media organisation, and the problems seemed to correlate with mine.
Favourite restaurant and dish?
Doc Cheng's, The Raffles Hotel, Singapore. Wok-fried Spicy Chicken and Szechuan Rack of Lamb.
Favourite fashion designer?
Eddie Bauer khakis or well-worn Gap jeans set off with a handmade shirt from Oscar's, a tailor in Hong Kong.
What are your hobbies?
Fly fishing, reading, traveling, cooking.
Where did you go on your holiday?
Family holiday in West Virginia.
Who would play you in a movie?
Sean Connery.
How would you title your movie?
The Last Grouse in Djibouti.
Finish this line, I wish I could ... support my family writing best selling novels in the morning and fly fishing.
