DIARY: My media

Abbie Marzan, media planner/buyer, Publicis-Ama Television

This is where I relieve my stress and relax. That's why I usually watch programmes that entertain me - namely 'no news' programmes.

As I still see myself on the brink of my teenage years,I like to watch programmes like Charmed, Buffy, Dawson's Creek and Angel. I also enjoy game shows, switching to and from different networks during crucial, exciting bits, and to catch a glimpse of the latest TV commercials. I also switch on to MTV, MYX, AXN and the Lifestyle Network to get the latest in reality TV shows and for trends in music and fashion. I watch TV especially on Sundays for a peek at the new commercials coming out.

Press

I read the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Philippine Star and the Manila Bulletin everyday for local headlines. Usually, I just scan these newspapers to take a look at the latest print ads.

Websites

I access the Philippine Daily Inquirer site everyday. This is where I read news, local and international, as well as updates on lifestyle and entertainment. The Philippines is one of the biggest markets for mobile phones due to popular texting. As such, I visit the Buyncell website, which contains information, tips and tricks, software upgrades and the latest innovations.

Advertising

I see the ad industy as vigorous and dynamic. It is composed of different brands competing through ads to win customers and sales. It inspires media practitioners to find new, creative ways to own a medium or programme.
