DIARY: My media - Jeff Ma Business Director, M&C Saatchi Shanghai

Television

A combination of local TV channels for news, and satellite programmes for relaxation. Over Chinese New Year Eve, I spent the longest time in the year sitting in front of the TV to watch CCTV New Year Eve Special Show. The show has become a tradition since the 80s, although the programme quality has not improved significantly over years.

Press

Dailies like SCMP for daily news outside China. My interest is in political issues and business columns. I usually collect a lot of magazines during my overseas trips. Wallpaper, ID, Dazed and Confused are rich in visual entertainment. I also appreciate the ambition shown by China's publishing industry which has launched new favourites such as Modern Weekly and Vision.

Websites

I browse through Lonely Planet when I plan for vacation, and Google.

I like MP3 but I cannot afford the time. The only thing I have in my download file is BMW web films.

Advertising

I am proud of every commercial produced by my team such as the recent Yang Guang Ice Tea for Coca-Cola China. I also appreciate advertising that is human, relevant, and beautifully executed. Taiwan is very good at communicating the values and perspectives of a Chinese society.

Radio

Radio used to be my only source for western music. Now I have only 15 minutes each day to listen to radio music with the taxi driver on the way to the office. But I still enjoy it.
