There's obviously a reason for the interest - Kyme, who was namedAd Man
of the Year for 2001 by the Institute of Advertising in Singapore - is
planning to set up his own agency in Hong Kong. Not just a creative
hotshop but an agency with solid blue chip clients. That off course
pricked our interest and we waited with bated breath to see his first
piece of work - a set of creatives to announce his departure. In one of
them, he has digitally inserted his face and that of FCB international
director Harry Reid's onto a poster which originally featured two
Arsenal players. Apparently, it's Kyme having a laugh at Reid's expense
because "Harry hates Arsenal Football Club, my team". He adds: "If I
wasn't leaving, this is as much as I could do to get myself fired."
But on closer inspection, Diary was flabbergasted by Kyme's strange
tanning ritual - he's tanned his hands but not his face. Did he put too
much sun protection on his face or was it a slip-up in execution? Diary
isn't one to harp on such things, but Kyme does go on about badly
produced TVCs on p14 of this issue and we wouldn't want to think he's
slipped up.
