Motorola appoints MindShare as its media agency of record in China as it attempts to boost its flagging fortunes in the Sars-stricken market.

The appointment, which sidelined incumbent Universal McCann, comes as the mobile phone maker forecasts that its global profit would drop by about six per cent in the second quarter.

Discovery Channel Asia dreams up a new regional branding campaign with the aim of strengthening its leading position as a 'fun, humanised and entertaining' network. Entitled 'What have you discovered today?', the campaign was developed by Saatchi & Saatchi and runs across the region with events in Taipei, Hong Kong and Singapore.

San Miguel launches a striking TVC to promote its brand image in Hong Kong.

Developed by J.Walter Thompson, the spot is a montage of striking, sexy images which ends with a young couple gazing deeply into each other's eyes, as the man spills a can of San Miguel down her thigh. It is far removed from 'San Miguel Street', introduced by previous incumbent McCann-Erickson.

15 YEARS AGO

After weeks of wooing, the Ogilvy Group finally agrees to jump into bed with its British suitor, WPP, on a US$54-a-share dowry, valuing Ogilvy at $864 million.
