DIARY: All you need to know about ... Closet secrets

Everyone's got something really weird lurking at the back of their

closet. As ever, the names have been removed to protect the

not-so-innocent.

Hong Kong:

Expat hell in the former British colony, as ever:

"Unusual to some perhaps, but natural to me: a collection of Sunderland

Football Club shirts from 1973 to the present day," we were told.

Some people just won't let the past go.

Beijing:

An unusually racy answer from our mainland friends:

"A 'Devil' G-string which has a red bull in front, complete with horns

and popping eyes! It's actually a birthday present but I haven't had a

chance to use it yet."

"Use" it?

Singapore:

"I've got a gorilla suit in my closet. I can't remember how it got

there. Is that unusual?"

Yes.

Evidenceof a hitherto unheeded party culture in the Lion City,

perhaps?

Taipei:

A more prosaic answer from our friends in Taiwan:

"A tool box, containing hammer, screwdrivers and so on - there's no

other place to store it in my apartment."

Kuala Lumpur:

Duller still from Malaysia:

"Those mismatched socks that seem to breed like rabbits," we're

told.

Is that really the most unusual?

Manila:

Dullness reaches its apogee, however, in the Philippines:

"For some reason, there's a necktie in my closet."

You don't say.
