DHL in new multi-year deal with NBA

ASIA-PACIFIC - DHL has inked a new multi-year partnership agreement with the NBA, as part of a sports strategy devised by media agency MEC.

The agreement sees DHL become the official express and logistics provider of the NBA in Asia, and will also see DHL participate in NBA initiatives running on TV, digital media and via on-ground events throughout China and Asia.

In particular, DHL will support the first-ever NBA Finals Trophy Tour in Asia in July, and will also partner the NBA China Games 2007.

“DHL was finding itself increasingly bombarded by proposals for on-ground and on-air sponsorships of all kinds and realised that it needed a structure and strategy to be able to evaluate what should be done on local or regional levels,” said MEC managing partner Connie Chan.

“It’s important that the relationship does not just stop at normal sponsorship rights.”
