Denzel steps down from NBA for role as a consultant

ASIA-PACIFIC: Mike Denzel, NBA Asia vice-president and managing director, has left the company for a consultancy role.

His position will be filled by Phil Hayes Brown, managing director Asia-Pacific, and Mark Fischer, managing director of China, who will relocate to Beijing this month.

The NBA has, meanwhile, extended its relationship with the China Central Television, (CCTV), Shanghai Television (STV) and 12 other provincial stations. As part of the new deal with CCTV, CCTV 5 will televise up to four games nationally every week. Throughout the season, 96 regular season games, the NBA All-Star Game, NBA Playoff games and the finals will be aired, along with NBA TV Daily and weekly customised episodes of the highlight programme NBA Time.

NBA games will also be broadcast on Radio Guangdong.

"NBA began broadcasting on CCTV in 1987. CCTV has been a key partner since then and has helped spread the message ," said Fischer.
