Dentsu strengthens presence in Korea with Dentsu Media launch

SEOUL - Dentsu has expanded its media practice in the region with the launch of Dentsu Media in Korea, which according to a statement is expected to play a central role in the group's media operations in that market.

The agency will operate as a consolidated subsidiary, with Dentsu holding a stake of almost 70 per cent. The remaining stake will be held by Bokwang Group, a domestic conglomerate.

Dentsu had previously operated its media functions in Korea through a combination of the media division of its advertising agency Dentsu Innovak,Phoenix Communications, and PDS Media, which has been acquired by the new agency.

The statement noted that Dentsu Media Korea’s “invigorated media buying power” would enable improved service to clients. Dentsu has re-branded Dentsu Innovak to Dentsu Korea to “foster synergy” within the group.

Dentsu Media also operates in Taiwan, China, Singapore, India, Indonesia and Thailand in the region.
