BEIJING Dentsu subsidiary Beijing Oriental Advertising reportedly went on strike in mid-December, with angry staff demanding the resignation of their Japanese general manager, Hua Qianzhi.

Sources said clients have been affected by the strike, with projects delayed.

One source noted that the strike had hit the Honda account team, as well as the agency's Wuhan subsidiary, which had been unable to pay bills.

Other clients understood to have been affected include Siemens, Master Kong, NEC Media and Pocari.

"There was a walkout at the agency and unfortunately for Dentsu some well-connected executives have left as a result of this," said a source.

"As a result of these internal changes and its fallout with powerful individuals they can expect some consequences to their business."

After initially agreeing to requests for an interview, senior Dentsu China executives declined to comment on the story.
