Dentsu bolsters Malaysian creative ranks

KUALA LUMPUR - Dentsu Malaysia has voiced its intention to emulate the 'total communications services' model of its Japanese parent, a move that coincides with the promotion of KC Aui and Woei Hern (pictured) as joint creative heads.

The duo will work with Michael Khor, creative head of direct, to oversee the agency’s Maybank, Telekom Malaysia and Toyota accounts.

“KC and Woei have the ability to head this new model. They’ve been exposed to many things in Japan and have had a lot of interaction with our teams around Asia. The Total Communications Services model has always been a challenge to replicate anywhere, but I think these two guys can make it happen,” said SP Lee, MD of Dentsu Malaysia.

In the last 3 years, the agency has expanded its media role beyond planning and buying to marketing, and has added direct work and public relations to its offering.

Aui was promoted to creative group head in 2007, and Woei Hern, in January 2008. Both joined Dentsu in 2003.
