Dentsu and Ogilvy Singapore lead Asia in Gunn Report

LONDON - Japan's Dentsu and Ogilvy & Mather Singapore were the most awarded Asian agencies in the world, according to the latest edition of the Gunn Report.

Dentsu came forth - two places above Ogilvy Singapore in sixth - in a table topped by TBWA\Chiat\Day of the US.

Japan came highest in the table of the awarded countries, in fifth, above Thailand (eighth) and Singapore (10th). India, China, New Zealand and Malaysia also featured in the top 25.

Most success for Asia came in print. Leo Burnett Bangkok's campaign for Clima bicycle locks was the most awarded print ad in the world in 2007, while Ogilvy Singapore's work for East Timor Tourism and Singapore Hospice Council was fifth and sixth most awarded, respectively.

Hakuhodo's ‘Humanity’ for Toyota recorded the top position for Asian agencies in the list of top 25 most awarded TV ads. It was followed by McCann Mumbai's ‘Palace’ for Happy Dent teeth whitening gum and JEH United's series for Smooth E Baby Face scrub.

However, Japan aside, Asia's showing in the Gunn Report's first interactive table was non-existent - other than a campaign by the Singaporean graphic designer Jonathan Yuen.
