MANILA: Dentsu Japan, which launched operations in the Philippines

this month, has insisted that local agency Image Dimensions will remain

an affiliate.

Denstu made this assertion despite its takeover of the US$2

million Toyota Motors brief, previously handled by Image. It is

understood that Dentsu is now negotiating to take over the business of

food manufacturer Union Ajinomoto, Japan Tobacco International

Philippines, maker of the Mild Seven brand, and Taisho

Pharmaceuticals.

Dentsu has hired Image's president Nonna Nanagas to man the Manila

office alongside director Nobuo Abe from Japan. Despite plans to retake

the accounts, Abe insisted that Dentsu would maintain its ties with

Image, which has 11 - mainly local - clients. Dentsu said its Manila

office would allow it to better service its global clients.
