DDB Indonesia reclaims $15m Indosat

JAKARTA - Indonesian telco giant Indosat has awarded its US$15 million creative account to incumbent DDB Indonesia after a final round of pitching with Ogilvy & Mather, McCann Erickson and Octovate.

The telco giant had been searching for a ‘super agency’ to handle its various businesses, which include cellular, fixed-line telephony, pay-TV and internet services.

Brian Estes, MD of DDB Indonesia, confirmed the news, which brings to an end an eventful affair including two agency withdrawals and disagreement over pitch fees.

Indosat has become one of the first major advertisers in Indonesia to agree to pay a pitch fee.

Estes noted: “We are extremely honoured and excited to have been chosen for a second two-year term by Indosat. The telecommunications category is extremely competitive and we believe DDB’s experience will continue to benefit Indosat’s growth and success."
