DDB has been charged with putting in place a strategy for Chery's North America launch -- Visionary Vehicles, the distributor of Yugo and Subaru in the US, expects to begin selling low-cost Chinese-made cars in the US from 2007. It also plans to invest US$200 million in new Chery products for the US market.
According to the agency, this is the first time Chinese-made cars will be imported to the US. The agency will also support Chery's participation in the Shanghai and Frankfurt auto fairs later this year.
Chery, which is ranked as China's fifth largest automobile company, had an annual spend of Rmb 250 million (US$30.2 million) last year.
