Darwin Centre on target for 2008

DARWIN The new Darwin Convention Centre is on target to open in mid 2008 and recently hosted a group of Australian conference organisers to inspect the site's progress.

Barrie Markey, managing director of ICMS, a conference organising company, said:

“The number of meeting rooms and the exhibition space will provide excellent facilities for the majority of regional and national conferences currently held in other centres.”

He added: “I can see Darwin emulating the success of Cairns as a ‘must go’ regional destination.”

The new convention centre will be able to seat 1,500 delegates in its largest space and will also feature 4,000 sqm of exhibition space.
