D&AD appoints interactive designer Simon Sankarayya as president

GLOBAL - Simon ‘Sanky’ Sankarayya (pictured) has been appointed as president of D&AD, a non-profit organisation that represents global design, advertising and creative communities.

Sankarayya is the co-founder of interactive agency Allofus. He replaces former president Paul Brazier.

"I want to act as a bridge between advertising and design, ensuring a ‘digital spine’ runs through all of D&AD’s activities," said Sankarayya. His vision is to support new talents and fresh graduates and provide them ‘the leg up’ they need. D&AD is also aiming to recognise smaller agencies and individuals with more events and opportunities online.

Sankarayya began his design career as a graffiti artist, then later as an art director at creative agency Digit. He established Allofus in 2004 and worked closely with D&AD last year to develop its new website that is due to launch at the end of this month.
