With 15 of the most creative minds speaking about their inspirations and ideas, over 1,400 people attended the event. Attendees pointed out how optimistic they were at how Asia is currently influencing the world of design and how the city is nurturing talent in this industry.
The event was first introduced nine years ago in Australia to provide an avenue for people to discuss creativity and design in thought-provoking forums.
“The dynamic mix produced such positive energy and responses from the local creative community, and we are so pleased that the Semi-Permanent platform was the forum for this sharing of innovation and inspiration,” noted Simon Velvin, director of Semi-Permanent.
Speakers from across the globe who shared their experiences include John Merrifield of TBWA, Conny Freyer of Troika Design Group, photographer Nabil Elderkin, British-born Simon Birch, Tetsuya Tsukada of Dainippon Type Organisation, Andy Fackrell of 180 Amsterdam, Austrian-born graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister, photographer Kayt Jones, Paul Graham of Anomaly and Industrial Light & Magic’s Christian Alzmann.
Meanwhile, Douglas Young of GOD, Stanley Wong of Threetwoone Film Production, artist Simon Birch, Danielle Huthart of Whitespace and cinematographer Rain Li continued the festivities as part of Lane Crawford Live, an interactive panel of local talent to whom the audience sent questions via Twitter and SMS.
Semi-Permanent has built on a following in Hong Kong, with supporters including Lane Crawford, Adobe, British Council, Getty Images, Invest Hong Kong, Miele, TBWA Asia-Pacific and The Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of Hong Kong (4As), among others.
Semi-Permanent partnered with expert Hong Kong-based event management company Branded, to bring the event to Asia for the first time.
