Yahoo.com was determined to be the most popular website by far
among Hong Kong home Internet users last month, according to a survey by
Iamasia.
The number of yahoo.com users totalled 884,000, while netvigator.com and
hongkong.com had 672,000 and 627,000 users respectively.
The Hong Kong government's website, info.gov.hk, ranked 13th.
Local media companies which made it into the top 20 were Apple Daily's
appledaily.com.hk and TVB's tvb.com.
The survey result is based on data collected from Iamasia's
representative panel of home Internet users in Hong Kong. The data is
weighted and then projected to the entire home Internet-user population
in the SAR.
Meanwhile, results of a Nielsen//NetRatings study found that Yahoo! was
the world's most popular website.
Within the top 10 websites for home internet users in July, six were
foreign websites, while four of them were local websites, proving that
local websites do have a certain degree of attraction to the home
Internet users.
The aim of the survey was to find out which were the top 20 websites for
Hong Kong home Internet users in July.
