Korean women's portal, womenplus.com, has launched an offline
monthly in a bid to boost traffic through its website.
Called WP, the fashion magazine targets young women aged between 22 and
25 years-old.
The full-colour, 430-page publication has had an initial print run of
150,000 during the promotional period. Succeeding issues will have a
print run of 80,000. The inaugural issue focuses on Hong Kong actress
and model Shu Qi as the cover story, which will also be available along
with streaming video clips of the star, on womenplus.com.
Editor Eun-kyong Seo said the magazine will soon roll out a Chinese
edition once Beijing authorities approved a publishing licence.
A sister publication aimed at housewives will be launched by the end of
this year.
WP is published by Cosmetic Land, which runs womenplus.com, whose target
audience is women from their late teens to late thirties.
The portal also sports a shopping mall and its appeal has been given a
lift through gift giveaways and bonus points for every purchase made.
