The organisers of Internet World Asia Hong Kong said that the event

was four times larger than last year and the focus of participants and

visitors was how to effectively run an Internet business, especially in

the realm of marketing and advertising.

Organised by Penton Media - a diversified business media company that

produces market focused magazines, websites, tradeshows and conferences

- in partnership with Reed Exhibition, the event attracted more than

10,000 people, while 156 companies from data centres and ISPs to ASPs

and B2Bs took part in the exhibition.

Penton Media vice-president and director of International events Stephen

Sind said that since the Internet bubble burst about six months ago, the

focus has switched to the "nuts and bolts running of an online

company".

"Although the event is the same as last year, reality has set in and

Internet operators are getting down to the business of doing business,

especially advertising and marketing. That's the same here in Hong Kong

as it is in New York and other parts of the world," Mr Sind told

CReATION.

Internet World Asia was the largest such event organised by Penton Media

outside the United States.

Mr Michael Westcott Penton, Media managing director, said: "The Internet

world is focused on getting real business onto the Internet ... Asian

businesses are serious about forming their e-strategies and this was

clearly evident in the ranks of senior executives companies sent to the

show from all over the region."
