CREATION: IDC warns of no Internet rebound for years

<p>How badly hurt is the dotcom sector? Pretty badly, according to the </p><p>IDC. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The researcher has warned not to expect any comeback from the sector for </p><p>a "matter of years". </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>"There will still be start-ups, and good companies will have IPOs </p><p>(albeit at much lower valuations), but the criteria for investing and </p><p>for taking them public will revert to the old rules. Criteria like </p><p>operating histories, consecutive quarters of profit, and long term </p><p>fundamentals will apply once again." </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>And how bad is the Internet stock crash? The IDC says "don't expect </p><p>miracles" because "stocks have been so hammered in 2000 (they) won't </p><p>roar back to their previous highs for many years". </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
