Hongkong.com has acquired Miller Freeman Asia's travel and tourism

group, as well as its publishing services, as part of its "B2B travel

service strategy".

The acquisition gives hongkong.com access to the publisher's travel and

tourism content, and is expected to gradually focus the publications on

the Web.

Miller Freeman Asia holds an important share of the regional exhibition

and publishing market. Its titles include Travel Trade Gazette Asia,

Business Travel News Asia-Pacific and Incentives and Meetings Asia.

TTG Asia has been in publication for more than 26 years. Its readership

is estimated at 100,000. The group's travel-related events include

Incentive Travel & Conventions, Meetings Asia (IT&CMA) and Corporate

Travel World (CTW) Asia-Pacific.

The move follows a recent investment in Chinaholiday by the Internet

company. Chinaholiday has exclusive online franchise for distribution of

China Travel Services products.

Chinaholiday, which also comes under the hongkong.com group, serves more

than 800 registered travel agents and 2,000 hotels.

Rudy Chan, chief executive officer of hongkong.com, said: "While we

recognise that there are economic, infrastructure and other significant

challenges ahead in extracting the synergistic value of both companies,

we believe that the combination of Chinaholiday's B2B travel platform

and TTG Asia's unrivalled publishing expertise in the Asian travel

industry, when successfully implemented, will lay a solid foundation for

our B2B e-travel services strategy."
