Chinadotcom has acquired RNR International Marketing's Australian

direct marketing business, giving it access to more than 12 million

business and consumer records. The cash and stock transaction will

enable Chinadotcom's emarketing arm to add to its list of over 10

million email addresses, creating a list of almost 22 million addresses,

one of the largest mail lists in Asia.

The move is expected to help Chinadotcom further its emarketing efforts

and generate revenue.

As well as acquiring the email lists and data, Chinadotcom said it would

benefit from RNR's experience in building, cleaning, enhancing and

profiling of records, making it a powerful tool for marketers. The

acquisition also gives it clients such as Cathay Pacific and the Hong

Kong government.

Mr Peter Hamilton, COO of Chinadotcom, said, "RNR's client base presents

new opportunities to cross-sell our existing online marketing solutions,

as well as our online ad network. The mail lists and their record of

achievement will be key to driving our continuing growth and maintaining

our leading position in these markets, and positions us to be a much

larger player both in Australia and regionally.

RNR International Marketing Group (Australia) is a database, direct and

online marketing agency that develops, designs and implements marketing

programmes for national and international clients throughout Australia

and Southeast Asia.

RNR also has joint-venture arrangements with the Chinese government for

the Hong Kong Companies Registry, the Australian government for a major

employment website and the Australian Mobile Telecommunications

Association.

The other areas of expertise RNR brings include marketing database

design, development and implementation; telemarketing, response

management and fulfillment and mailing; data handling from hand-written

documents, computer records and electronic messages; and list research,

compilation and broking.

Separately, Chinadotcom also announced that subsidiary Web Connection

has launched its Thailand operation through the acquisition of

Bangkok-based ebusiness service provider Cyberimage in a three-year

buyout deal.

Cyberimage has helped companies such as Procter & Gamble, GE Capital,

Hitachi, Panasonic, Toyota and Siam Cement bring their businesses

online.

The acquisition follows Web Connection's recent entry into Europe

through its acquisition of Revolution in the UK.
