Couldrey dies after brief illness in NZ

<p>Veteran creative director Don Couldrey has died in New Zealand at </p><p>the age of 59 after a brief illness. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Mr Couldrey, the longtime partner of adman Russell Jones who together </p><p>formed Couldrey Jones, was one of the legends of Asian advertising. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>His 35-year career in Asia covered Hong Kong, Singapore, Manila and </p><p>Bangkok and he was recognised as one of the best art directors and </p><p>photographers in the region. Mr Couldrey began his career in Asia with </p><p>Grant Advertising and worked for McCann-Erickson, Ketchum, Saatchi & </p><p>Saatchi, and Couldrey Jones Lindberg which later became simply Couldrey </p><p>Jones and in recent years Batey Couldrey Jones. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Among creative projects worked on were Thai International, Philippine </p><p>Airlines, Westin Hotels, Shangri-La Hotels, and the design of MEDIA's </p><p>current masthead. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Creative partner Russell Jones told MEDIA Mr Couldrey was one of </p><p>advertising's true characters. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>"I'll miss him dearly for his talent, wit and humour," he said. </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
