Cooper in line for PHD global role

ASIA-PACIFIC - Omnicom is understood to be actively seeking a successor to Omnicom Media Group Asia-Pacific chief executive officer Mike Cooper (pictured), who is reportedly in consideration for the PHD Worldwide role vacated by David Pattison last year.

According to sources, a New York-based headhunter has been in discussion with three senior media executives for the position, although at press time, none had been confirmed.

“Mike Cooper has done a remarkable job here, but he has wanted to relocate to the UK. OMD is speaking to a number of people as possible replacements, but nothing has been concluded as yet,” said a source. “It’s a challenge for Omnicom, because it has three openings at the top to fill now — PHD in the UK, the OMD global post that Joe Uva left and Cooper’s replacement. It is in search of heavyweight media people globally.”

Cooper, who declined to comment, has been the driving force behind much of OMD’s success in Asia-Pacific.
